The Cape Society for Dental Implantology (CSDI) was constituted after the inaugural meeting in 2000 in Cape Town. It was felt that there was a need for a formal structure to guide the practice of dental implantology in the Western Cape.
The Society presents annual academic meetings and the management committee looks after the day to day administration of the Society.
The CSDI is an unique dental organization in that the members include dental traders, dental technicians, dentists, and dental specialists and thereby strives to promote a culture of teamwork within the discipline of dental implantology.
The CSDI is very pleased to host our first meeting for 2011 with a world renowned is international speaker. Dr David Dawood based in the UK. He has a special interest in diagnostic radiology and cutting edge dental implant reconstruction.
The CSDI is again committed to the general dentist involved in implant logy in 2011. We will be bringing you an affordable CPD program. We thank you for your support in the past and are looking forward to serve you in 2011
The much anticipated 2010 has arrived. The soccer world cup is hosted in South Africa. It however seems that the dental fraternity has taken this to heart and the academic program of 2010 seems to be much busier than normal. Due to some personal busy programs the CSDI has been off to a slow start with the due dates for the first meeting coming and going. The Exco however are committed to our goal of inexpensive education to the average user of dental implants. We have identified the current problems facing the restoring dentist, and this will be addressed at our country meeting at Mykonos. “My crown does not seat.” This has come about due to the more frequent use of bone-level implants. I hope to see you at this most exciting meeting. Johan Lochner is the congress convener and he is putting in a lot of work to bring you an unbiased opinion from all the implant companies presented in the Western Cape.
The exco met twice this year to establish possible dates for our annual congresses. It was decided due to the very busy schedule of the year, to only host two meetings this year. The first would be the Mykonos meeting on 28 May 2010. The other would be our ever popular student day followed by an evening of high end implantology. The final date for the last meeting has not been set as we need to consider the roster of the graduate class of The University of the Western Cape. This promises to be another very exciting evening.
On a final note. The exco has been very pro-active and hard working. We have run our program to inconvenience as few people as possible. This has been very productive and we value the high numbers that attended the congresses. However we have not had an AGM in some time. We have decided that the only appropriate time for this meeting would be with the student day. A new exco must be elected. If anybody should be interested in a position or would like to propose anybody, you could gladly contact the society at csdi@mweb.co.za
Kind Regards
